What kids are allowed to do

Gwen has a post that’s so bang-on, so good, that I can’t pick just one quotation to share with you. She nailed it.

I’d also add that what she says applies to adults, too. We (if I may) are allowed to do a lot more than we think we are.

Her post also reminds me just what a disservice the parents and teachers who make excuses for these kids are really doing to the children. As my friend Mary (who doesn’t have a blog - I wish she did!) puts it, “Adults don’t like them, other kids don’t like them, and they don’t know how to deal with life on life’s terms.”

Of course, that describes roughly half the people I meet. Forget the made-up epidemics that the media peddles to us: Rudeness is the real, much more damaging epidemic.
