Why I was in Ohio for ages

Originally, Antoine and I were only going to Ohio for three days over Christmas. I ended up staying for two weeks, so that I could go to my oldest, best friend’s bridal shower. It was well worth it.
Karri and I have been friends since we were 13, which is the longest I’ve been friends with anyone. There is an easy shorthand that develops with someone you’ve been close to for that long, and a huge gratitude for someone who’s stuck by your side through thick and thin, across thousands of miles, and despite your own significant personal shortcomings. So of course I would not have missed her shower for the world.
Antoine and I will be heading back to Ohio in nine days, for Karri’s wedding, another must-make trip. I’m supposed to read something during the ceremony, something I’ve written specifically for the occasion. I’m struggling with the latter, and will REALLY struggle with the former, since the event is so important. Any suggestions for either of those feats would be greatly appreciated, but I think it boils down to “Suck it up, sister”.
