Dave Winer says (on Twitter, of course):

It’s about the people. I’m posting stuff to Twitter that appears nowhere else…That’s why Twitter will make it: It inspires fanatacism.

I can vouch for both of those statements. There’s something liberating about the micro-blogging format (and the fact that my updates are visible only to those I allow to see them). I also get into conversations via Twitter that I otherwise would not, with people I otherwise don’t email or talk to on the phone very often.

So what is this Twitter thing? Try it and see.

A lot of my friends will never have blogs, but the 140-character max limit on Twitter might suit them, and I am very interested in what my friends are thinking and doing. A girl can dream.
