Susanna Sonnenberg’s memoir is a fast, superb read. It’s about Susanna and her mother, and I found it quite devastating. You can read an excerpt here, though this line says it all:
To walk into a deli with her and order a sandwich was a particular commitment, a willingness to let her own the day.
Anyone who has ever dealt with a narcissist - and especially a narcissistic mother - will relate.
